Here we are almost at the end of 2024. This year has been full of great adventures, excitement and surprises. With 2025 quickly approaching and the reassurance of the US currently in shambles, it’s time to start thinking outside the box and country.
I am so very grateful that I’ve had many opportunities to travel internationally and explore other global communities. There are so many countries that provide nurturing, affordable and balance lifestyles depending on what and where you’re looking. I am inspired to be the change I want to see in the world, even if that means in a different location.
Based on my previous travels and current knowledge, I have selected a list of countries that can provide some fantastic alternative living opportunities outside of the US.

𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐦𝐛𝐢𝐚 🇨🇴
Contrary to what you may have heard or believe Columbia is quite a safe and pleasant country to live in. Medellín, Columbia is known as the ‘land of eternal spring’ because of its perfect climate. Bogota, the capital city, offers great city life. There are also great neighborhoods and communities in Columbia.

𝐏𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐠𝐚𝐥 🇵🇹
Portugal has a huge expat community from the US and other countries in the world. Portugal’s affordability, culture, location and digital nomad access make it a great place to relocate.
𝐁𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐮𝐝𝐚 🇧🇲
This small island located off of the east coast of the US offers, beautiful views and deep, cultural roots within a British territory. It can be quite costly so make sure your coins are stacked.
𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐚 🇵🇦
This central American country is a great place to relocate because it offers the great rich culture of Panama with many of the same industrialized amenities of the US in Panama City. It’s also considered very economical in consideration of retirement.
𝐁𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐞 🇧🇿
The only English-speaking country in Central America is still considered a bit under the radar as it comes to expats from the US and across the globe. There is still affordable beachfront property available but act fast because an up and coming Belize is a hotspot country.

Besides the culture and Laissez-faire lifestyle, the US and France have a tax treaty regarding your retirement. If you already have been taxed for your retirement here in the US, you will not be taxed again if deciding to retire in France. Merci beaucoup!
